"We were very spoilt as we were gifted our stay in this incredible Hotel.
I had read an article on it some time prior and was really struck by the unique transformation taking place. When it was completed and I saw photos of the Hotel I was incredibly impressed by how the character and history of the building had been preserved. The interior design was done to a very high standard that was sensitive to the building but also very unique. As I raved to my daughter in particular but also to the rest of the family they gave us the opportunity to stay as a present. My husband and I had a truly memorable stay and have recommended the Hotel to numerous friends and family.
We met locals both in the Dome while having breakfast and our meal in the evening. Without exception the people we struck up conversation with were very happy to give very useful advice when asked, whether that involved the local area or further afield.
In the evenings we thoroughly enjoyed the ambience of the Cordial Bar. What an incredible place to sit and unwind with a glass of your favourite tipple and some nibbles. The wine was great, the atmosphere was lovely and the company was special. All the staff were amazing - very professional, helpful and lovely to talk to.
This is the first Hotel I have ever stayed in where we were taken up to our room, the Guest Valet was explained to us as were the actual workings of the lights etc in our room. Our room was absolutely beautiful and the bathroom was just stunning.
I would strongly advise people to wander around, look at the machinery and read about the different processes in the mill. I strongly suggest that guests avail themselves of the wonderful books that are in the lovely presentation box in each room. Take the book on the actual workings of the Mill when it was producing flour with you as you explore.
It is a mine of information.
Another book of great value is on the different trips one can take in the Southern region. We did a day trip down to Albany where we went to the Albany War Memorial which is truly worth a visit. We loved the interactive experience which really personalised what the men went through. On the return trip to Katanning we went the eastern route past Bluff Knoll and the ranges. As a result we both saw countryside we had not previously seen. The book has a number of different trips that can be done exposing the traveller to different scenery and places.
Another option is to do a winery tour in the region and once again this is catered for with these wonderful books.
I must also comment on the amazing fireplace which was pure bliss to sit by for a period.
The conversion of this historical flour mill into a unique hotel has been accomplished with great sensitivity. I sincerely hope it encourages others to also save historical buildings with the same sensitivity and respect for the building and its previous use as has been done here". ALISON, NOV 2018
