In the 1800’s it was steam that powered the world. The boiling of water in a cast iron vessel to create steam pressure was the energy source for trains, ships and any major industrial endeavour such as the Premier Flour Mill. Sitting pride of place in our central atrium, our incredible steam boiler was made in Gawler, South Australia at the James Martin ironworks.
Overlooking the 127 year old steam boiler that once powered the Mill are our Boiler Rooms. Whilst the smaller of our rooms, they are light and airy by design, feature a pared-back and a perfectly coordinated interior.
The rooms are all different to varying degrees by virtue of the found condition. Where possible the rooms have exposed remnant machinery and original timber structure. Elements such as inset carpets and full height curtains soften the industrial shell. New elements in the rooms are designed to complement the existing material textures adding amenity without clutter. All in-room furniture has been bespoke designed and locally craft manufactured.
